Goal-oriented Modular Teaching Reform based on CDIO Concept

Abstract

Goal-oriented modular teaching reform based on the concept of CDIO is proposed to meet the cultivation requirements for major of Measurement and Control Technology and Instrument, the academic feature of the Industrial Automation Instrument and the current situation of the teaching reform. Its goal is to train students’ innovative and practical abilities from relevant teaching reform projects. It will establish the professional knowledge system and the competency matrix based on main curriculum. The modular teaching practice system is composed of theoretical teaching, classroom discussion, the third level project, the second level subject design, the first-level graduation design. Take the teaching reform of the digital signal processing subject group as an example, it puts emphasis on the organic connection of the correlated curriculum content and the comprehensive practice requirements through various forms of classroom explanation, Matlab assignment, comprehensive experiments, literature review, classroom discussion, third level project design and report, scientific and technical innovation competitions. It intensifies the research-style learning. Through setting problems and goals, the autonomous practice ability can be developed, and the ability of solving signal processing using the learned knowledge can be trained. This teaching model can combine theoretical learning with practical training, develop the independent thinking, analyzing, and problem solving abilities, enhance cooperation and communication skills, and promote the comprehensive practice and innovation abilities.
