Biography

Fabregat-Sanjuan is a full-time professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV). He obtained his degree in Industrial Engineering (2005) and his PhD in Mechanical Engineering (2015), both from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). He is a member of the Functional Materials Research Group (Funcmat), where he conducts research in materials characterization. In addition, in 2019 he started a new line of research in biomedical engineering focused on developing medical technologies for clinical neurophysiology. He is also a collaborating member of the NeuroÈpia research group. Recently, he completed the postgraduate program Tech Transfer Leadership in Life Sciences at the Barcelona School of Management (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) as part of the training included in the Caixaimpulse Validate program.

He stands out for his leadership in the research projects in which he participates, serving as first author on a large portion of the publications (45%, 17 out of 38 indexed publications), as well as last author and corresponding author, especially in recent years. This reflects his role in directing, supervising, and consolidating multidisciplinary research projects and reinforces his central involvement in coordinating teams.

As an active member of several education innovation projects, his particular interest focuses on implementing innovative methods of teaching involved in the CDIO initiative. He has been awarded for the quality of his teaching methods in the collective (2015) and individual (2018) category from the URV Social Council. He has also been awarded for his patents and entrepreneurial spirit in projects related to medical devices.
